The Peruvian Aprista Party (APRA) is a political party initially projected on a continental scale, with a position related to the center-left and a member of the Socialist International. The acronym APRA comes from the name of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance, the initial proposal of its founder Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre to form a network of anti-imperialist social and political movements in Latin America. Its militants are called \companions\ due to the Fraternity created by Haya de la Torre.
