Finally, an easy way to make patterns for Book Folding Art right on your Android phone or tablet!
Book art, sometimes called book folding or book origami, creates beautiful and bold art pieces by folding and cutting images into the side of hardcover books. Book folding is tranquil, a kind of meditation, and results in uniquely elegant gifts for friends and family.
To use the app, just create a pattern, enter a few details about your book like its height and page count, and upload the image you would like to fold. Patterns can be Measure, Mark, & Fold, Cut & Folds, Shadow Folds, 180 Folds... but if you're a beginner, Measure, Mark & Folds (MMFs) are a perfect place to start.
For MMFs, just select a simple, solid image like a heart, clip art, or a tightly kerned word. Cuts & Folds are usually reserved for more detailed images like portraits and stencils.
All of your patterns are saved conveniently on your phone or tablet - no more printing pages on pages of pattern instructions! Plus, if you tap on a row of instructions you can save your progress with a green indicator box, so you'll never lose your place.
MMFs will have two instructions per page; just use your ruler to measure the two marks from the top of the page. Then, fold each corner of the page inward, creating a crease at the marks you made. That\s it! Repeat these steps for each page and soon enough you'll have a stunning and remarkable work of art, and hopefully a new enjoyable hobby.
Patterns for book folding are sometimes hard to find - often they require purchasing from online shops. Now, you can make as many custom patterns as your heart desires. Happy folding, book artists!
