This application was created using information contained in the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy publication \Tidal Tides\, using harmonic constants deduced from continuous observations of tidal currents.
The forecasts refer to the surface layer of the sea.
The speed is expressed in knots and the signs \+\ and \-\ indicate respectively the \upstream\ and the \downstream\.
The time of the \tired\ is the moment when the intensity of the current is equal to zero.
The times are indicated taking into account Italian, solar, or legal time, depending on the time of year, so they do not need corrections.
The application calculates the direction and the speed of the current at the reference gauges of \Punta Pezzo\ and \Punta Ganzirri\. For the other localities of the strait, called secondary localities\, certain calculation methods are reported in the above-mentioned publication.
