With the Preventicus Heartbeats digital medical product, you can easily check your heartbeat with a smartphone camera. Regular use helps identify undetected heart rhythm diseases, especially atrial fibrillation, to help prevent strokes. Analysis and documentation of your measurements can be performed in ECG-like quality. The high precision of the application has been confirmed by international clinical studies.
Regular self-measurement of heart rate, in particular \atrial fibrillation screening\, is particularly suitable for people at increased risk of stroke:
- usually from the age of 65
- from the age of 55 in the presence of \other cardiovascular risk factors (e.g. high blood pressure, diabetes, after stroke or heart attack, if palpitations are felt)
- as recommended by a doctor
The purpose of the application is to detect evidence (suspicious or tentative diagnoses) of cardiac arrhythmias, in particular
- Extremely irregular pulse (absolute arrhythmia) with suspicion of atrial fibrillation
- Suspicion of other cardiac arrhythmias with frequent irregular heartbeats (e.g. ectopic heartbeats)
- Determination of heart rate with indication or suspicion of bradycardia (pulse too weak) or tachycardia (pulse too high), without further diagnostic differentiation
All results are suspected (provisional) diagnoses of a digital medical device, not an actual diagnosis in the medical sense. Suspicious (provisional) diagnoses do not in any way replace a personal consultation, diagnosis or treatment by a doctor. This application cannot be used to make decisions in situations considered life-threatening.
Untreated atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major risk factor for stroke. It often goes unnoticed and only occurs occasionally, which makes it difficult to detect in a doctor's office. This is why the guidelines recommend regular self-monitoring of heart rhythm. After a medical diagnosis of AF, therapy (mainly drug therapy) can nearly normalize the risk of stroke.
Use the free basic version to familiarize yourself with the measurement process, determine your heart rate and get the first clues if the app detects any heart rhythm disturbances. The full version offers you additional features:
- detailed analysis and presentation of measurement results in an ECG -like manner
- saving and sharing of measurements as a PDF document comparable to an ECG
- a longer measurement option of 5 minutes, especially if recommended by a physician, so that less frequent arrhythmic events are more likely to be recorded
- possibly the possibility for the ECG technicians of the Telecare centers to carry out an evaluation of the measurements in order to exclude possible measurement errors and to check rhythm disturbances from a medical-technical point of view.
Use this possibility especially after the recommendation of a doctor, because a medical-technical prequalification of your measurements can considerably help your doctor to make his diagnosis.
