The end could be closer than expected for LG brand Smart phones. The Korean manufacturer could indeed announce it from April 5.
The end is drawing near for LG's Smartphone division. While the upcoming closure of the Korean giant's Smartphone activity is emerging as an increasingly realistic possibility, the Korean press has just put another blow to the morale of fans of the brand's Smart phones.
The Korea Times reports that LG has made a decision on the future of its Smartphone business: the Korean manufacturer should indeed put an end to the production of Smart phones. The decision could even be announced publicly on April 5 at its next board meeting.
The closure of the Korean giant's Smartphone division can be explained in large part by the poor results recorded in recent years. The company has in fact accumulated approximately $ 3.9 billion in operating losses over the past five and a half years. The South Korean manufacturer was also in negotiations with Volkswagen AG and the Vietnamese giant Vingroup JSC to resume this activity, without success.

A gradual decline

The manufacturer has also put all its research and development projects on hiatus, including its plans to develop Smart phones with scrolling screens. LG had recently made a name for itself after the launch of its latest LG Wings Smartphone, which features a screen that can be rotated.
As a reminder, LG had decided to stop its sales of Smart phones in France in 2019, calling into question increased competition, in particular from Chinese players, in this market.
If the manufacturer is no longer very present in Europe, it still ranks in the top 3 of Smart phones for two key markets: the United States and South Korea, where 5G networks have been deployed and where coverage should be s.
